Some crazes fade just as quickly as they arrive –- but sometimes they are just too fun ignore! Two new crazes have found their way into Disney Parks and judging by how unique and cute they are, I’m sure we’ll be seeing them around for quite some time. Pook-A-Looz, the new line for plush, apparel, and accessories from Disney Consumer Products are truly too cute for their own good! Pook-A-Looz were created to capture the personalities of iconic Disney characters in an offbeat and unique way. The new line features more than 30 different characters ranging from classic characters such as Alice In Wonderland, Muppets, to favorites from Pixar films. Pook-A-Looz were first debuted at D-23 last September, since their launch, Pook-A-Looz have exploded, not only retailers across the country but at Disney Parks as well. Be on the lookout, later this fall, Disney Theme Parks will be releasing Pook-A-Looz that can only be found in the Disney Parks! Disney Parks Pook-A-Looz designs range from Sorcerer Mickey to Yeti & Figment! Here’s a sneak peek at an upcoming Pook-A-Looz that will be found in Disney Parks! Another hot new fad that’s popped up both inside and outside Disney Parks is Rubber Band Animals. It seems everywhere you look, you can find a wrist heavily adorned with colorful creations. So what exactly are Rubber Band Animals? They are colorful rubber-band style bracelets that morph into animals when you take them off. You can stretch them, twist them, and bend them into any shape, but they always return to their original form. Coming later this year, Disney Parks is releasing our own version of Rubber Band Animals based off your favorite Disney characters and icons. Tween Crazes Hit Walt Disney World

D23 Members have the chance to see Toy Story and Toy Story 2 and be the first to see Toy Story 3 in one out-of-this-world event — chock-full of surprises! D23 Members will be among the first to see the Woody, Buzz and the gang in the new Disney·Pixar film Toy Story 3 as part of a Toy Story marathon — all in dazzling Disney Digital 3D™ — at the historic El Capitan Theatre on June 17, 2010. Grab your complimentary (commemorative) popcorn bucket and drink and head to your seats! The curtain rises on the original Toy Story at 3 p.m., and from then on, it’s a day of delights and surprises. Special guests will make appearances throughout the event. During breaks, guests will be offered a meal as well as an ice cream treat to keep thing sweet! Following the screening of Toy Story 3 guests will head back to the Toy Story 3 Fun Zone behind the El Capitan to enjoy the complete Toy Story experience. We celebrate birthdays daily at Disney Parks but today we had a special one at the Walt Disney World Resort . John Schmitz celebrated his 100th birthday with us at Magic Kingdom Park . John, who lives in Altamonte Springs, Florida, said his birthday wish after turning 100 was to ride “it’s a small world.” And he did that and more during Tuesday’s visit. What’s the secret to his longevity? He’ll tell you it is working hard and staying active. John does volunteer work at his church and still plays bingo with friends every week. After his visit to The Hall of Presidents today, there was already talk about next year’s celebration and another visit to “it’s a small world.” Happy Birthday, John.

Preview the Toy Story 3 Summer Issue D23 Covers

Being chosen as a member of the famed Walt Disney World Moms Panel is an extensive process that involves an application, essay writing, and in the end a phone interview with Disney Destination executives. By the time a finalist reaches the phone interview, he or she knows they have made it past literally thousands of applicants. That call is often the final step to making it on the panel. Needless to say, most panelists think long and hard about what they’ll say during the few minutes of the interview. What finalist Allison Valdes said when asked the last question during her interview brought the Disney executives to tears. When asked what her favorite Walt Disney World memory was, Allison said that she had not had it yet. That was an odd response, given that many finalists usually have visited Walt Disney World Resort dozens and dozens of times. I asked her to elaborate. Allison went on to explain that her son 7 year old son Reagan was born with Cerebral Palsy. During those first few hours of his life, his parents were told that he would most likely not survive. And if he did survive, he would be unable to talk, walk or function in any substantial way. Well Reagan had other ideas. He did survive. He speaks sign language and says a few words. “Baa” is his word for his favorite attraction Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin . A few years ago Reagan decided that through therapy he would walk and his first steps would be down Main Street USA. We’re sharing a photo of that day.
