The Disney Magic cruise ship will return to the Port of Barcelona, launching a second and extended season of special Mediterranean and Northern European itineraries, the latest example of Disney’s global expansion in the family cruising market. Starting Saturday, April 24, the ship will sail eight, 10- and 11-night cruises to Spain, Italy and France, providing families with a unique way to see world famous cities throughout Europe. “We are thrilled to return to Barcelona, and once again call this magnificent city our summer homeport,” said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line . “This region of the world holds great appeal for our guests, as we learned during our first voyages here. That initial success encouraged us to return and offer enhanced itineraries that give our guests the opportunity to combine an authentic European experience with a fun, family-friendly cruise that only Disney can deliver.” Disney Cruise Line first visited Barcelona during 2007, sailing Mediterranean cruises throughout the summer. The feedback from guests proved very popular, prompting the company to once again explore this region of the world

Guests sailing on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder now have a unique opportunity to learn about environmental efforts aboard Disney Cruise Line through a behind the scenes video hosted by Disney Channel’s Brenda Song. Aptly titled “Behind the Waves,” the video provides an inside look at conservation programs and operations both in guest areas and backstage onboard the ships and at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Covering topics of shipboard recycling efforts, energy savings, water conservation and programs protecting wildlife in Disney Cruise Line ports of call, the video showcases strides being made by the cruise line while also engaging guests to help support those efforts. “We are excited to be able to share this inside look at some of the environmental programs we have in place on the ships and island,” said Tom Wolber, Senior Vice President of Operations. “I hope that in learning about some of the efforts we’re supporting at sea, our guests will be inspired to look at actions they can take to conserve in their own lives.” Viewers of “Behind the Waves” are guided through the facts and environmental tips by actress Brenda Song, star of the hit Disney Channel series, “The Suite Life on Deck.” From switching to energy efficient light bulbs to processing up to 405 tons of recyclables each year, “Behind the Waves” showcases environmental facts about Disney Cruise Line operations including: Both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder have shipboard Environmental Officers dedicated to overseeing all environmental procedures and programs
