If you have been thinking about taking a cruise, check out some of the vacations that Disney is offering.
Magic on Land and Sea
With this great combination, you don’t have to choose between a cruise and Disney World. You can spend 3-4 days at the Disney World Resort and 3-4 days on a Disney Caribbean cruise that goes to Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay.
Caribbean Cruises
Whether you desire going east or west, Disney Cruise Line will take you. Enjoy a 7 night cruise to the Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Key West. Or, if you choose, go to St Maarten, St Thomas and Castaway Cay.
Mexican Riviera Cruises
Cruise along the Mexican Riviera from Mazatlan to Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco to Puerto Vallarta. You can opt for a 7 day cruise, or really enjoy the luxurious getaway with a 15 night cruise.

The cruise ships have everything you need to enjoy yourself fully for whatever amount of time you choose to sail away. From comfortable rooms with all the amenities to days and nights filled with as much food and entertainment as you can handle, you will surely find all the enjoyment you were hoping for on one of Disney’s Cruise Line cruises.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to be a Jedi, now is your chance. Walt Disney provides the opportunity to learn the skill of using a lightsaber from a Jedi master. Once you have learned all that the Jedi master can teach you, you will then have the opportunity to prove your skills in the ultimate fight.
As a Jedi Knight Padawan, you will do the following:
- Take the Jedi oath
- Master lightsaber skills
- Learn moves such as the joust, parry, and block
- Battle the forces of the dark side, including Stormtroopers, Darth Maul, and Darth Vader
Located at Tomorrowland, you will be live on stage performing your skills for the audience. Although children are the optimal target for the show, enjoying the show is not limited exclusively to them. The Jedi Training Academy is a fun, interactive show created with the whole family in mind. Children in the audience who are in ages 4 to 12 are randomly picked and are given the opportunity to participate if they choose to do so.
Disney is always a place to go for some “fun in the sun,” there is no doubt about that. But if you are wondering what is going on in the next several months, the topic of this post will help you with that, giving a rundown of some of Disney’s May through August events.
· 15th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival – we have talked about this incredible event in a previous post. Although it has already begun, you still have until June 1st to partake of the amazing sites and events.
· Mickey’s Pirate and Princess Party – although this takes place after the sun goes down, you won’t want to miss this party! It takes place on seven nights spanned in May and early June.
· Star Wars Weekends – if you are a Star Wars fan, this is the place to spend a weekend or two. From June 6 until June 29th, Star Wars celebrities will be on hand for autographs, pictures, and more.
· Sounds Like Summer – from Elton John to the Eagles, Disney proudly presents some of the greatest cover bands every night from June 9th to August 10th.
- Fourth of July fireworks – it starts at 9pm so don’t be late!

Although it may be a welcome treat for some to get away from “healthy” everyday food choices, others are not so impressed with what has been on the menu at Disney. In response to those who have made their opinions known, Disney is more than willing to accommodate.
Though you do not have to worry if you are in the former group, those in the latter can enjoy the expansion Disney has added to their food offerings. There are many options to choose from: hamburgers with less fat content, breads and pizza crusts made with whole wheat and whole grain, lower fat cheeses and fresh fruit. These are all things that can be chosen from, or that have become standard in some of Disney’s restaurants and fast food “quick stops.”
Disney even does what they can to cater to special dietary needs, such as gluten and wheat allergies and vegan diets. As long as guests call ahead of time (407/WDW-DINE), alterations will be done to accommodate these specific guests.
But, for those who thoroughly enjoy a fattening plate of French fries or and a decadent dessert, do not worry. Those options are always available. A walk around Disney resort can always burn off the extra calories afterwards!

Lasting just over 20 minutes long, the Pixar Play Parade is a must see for all kids, and adults, too! Characters from all of the Disney-Pixar movies, such as Toy Story, Cars, Monsters, Inc, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille, join the fun for the viewing pleasure of all parade goers.
A few words of caution though – if you do not want to get wet, either do not attend the parade or locate a seat far back! Each colorful float has the ability to spray water. When the weather is cooler, however, bubbles replace the inevitable drops of water that “front seaters” are bound to endure!
In addition to the characters riding on the floats, a show is also presented by characters on the ground. For example, there are dancing bugs and monsters, puppeteers, and stilt-walking chefs. These fun characters make sure they spend some time mingling with the parade attendees.
The parade runs from the gates next to the entrance to Hollywood and around the Sunshine Plaza, then through the Golden State area before ending near the Orange Stinger in the Paradise Pier area. It takes place once a day during the late afternoon.
