For proof that run Disney races are for everyone, look no further than Ellen Lem, a nearly 90-year-old woman from Anaheim, Calif., who participated last week in her first-ever 5K race at the 11th Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna . Lem is one of the oldest runners in run Disney history and crossed the finish line arm-in-arm with her daughters in a time of 1:13:05. Her participation in a run Disney race is just the beginning of what makes her an inspiration to us all.

Have you ever noticed this lovely dancing fountain at Epcot located just behind Spaceship Earth ? It’s the Fountain of Nations and in addition to being a lovely point of interest for guests, it has been an important part of park history since Epcot opened in 1982. A special “International Ceremony of the Waters” took place right here on the park’s opening day, in which cultural representatives traveled to Epcot from around the world. Each one brought with them a container of water from their nation and poured it into the fountain

Disney Parks have a long tradition of integrating stories from the creative masterpieces of Walt Disney animated and live-action features into immersive attractions and experiences. Did you know this tradition dates back to opening day, July 17, 1955, with several attractions inspired by the silver screen? The most notable of these is the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland park.

Last week, 400 Disney Parks Blog readers joined our team for an advanced screening of “ Pete’s Dragon ” outdoors at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground . The resort’s “nature” theme and outdoor setting was perfect for this film, which is set deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. At our event, guests gathered outdoors to answer trivia questions, received Disney Parks Blog hats and “Pete’s Dragon” lunch pails – and were even surprised with an appearance by young actor Oakes Fegley, who plays Pete in the film.
